Why is HR compliance important?

HR compliance helps you to meet your statutory obligations as an employer. This may be legal and contractual compliance – both are equally important to establish a solid foundation to your employment practices.

Do I have to issue a contract of employment?

Contracts exist, whether the terms are written down or agreed verbally. However, from 6th April 2020, all employees and workers are entitled to a wrtitten statement of particulars on day one

What else do I have to comply with?

There are many statutory responsibilities that must be complied with as an employer, including those relating to pay (national minimum wage and HMRC requirements such as PAYE), health and safety, workplace pension obligations, right to work in the UK and fair treatment to prevent discrimination

What happens if I don’t comply with employment law?

Ultimately you could face a claim for breach of contract or to an Employment Tribunal. Such claims can be costly, time consuming and disruptive. They can also have an impact of your reputation which may affect how you are viewed by potential customers and employees
