After 13 Great North Runs and 2 Lincoln Half Marathons, Our Director is donning his trainers again

London Marathon 2018

After 13 Great North Runs and 2 Lincoln Half Marathons, Adam Davey is donning his trainers again, but this time the challenge is even bigger and better as he steps up to take part in the 2018 London Marathon.

He will be raising funds for one of our clients, Centrepoint, the young people’s homeless charity.

Centrepoint provides housing and support for young people in London, Manchester, Yorkshire and the North East and through partnerships all over the UK. Centrepoint aims to give homeless young people a future and supports more than 9,200 homeless young people a year into a home and a job.

Homeless young people, aged 16-25, stay with Centrepoint for up to two years, but they keep supporting them for another six months to make sure they can live independently.  Centrepoint provide accommodation, health support and life skills to get them back into education, training and employment.

The London Marathon was first run on 29th March 1981.  The course is flat and fast, starting in Blackheath, heading east through Charlton and Woolwich for three miles, then turns west and passes the Cutty Sark in Greenwich after six to seven miles. It crosses the River Thames at Tower Bridge and then loops around the east end of London, past Canary Wharf in Docklands, before heading west again along the Highway and the Embankment to Parliament Square, Birdcage Walk and the final corner in front of Buckingham Palace before the finish line on The Mall.

Adam commented “The step up in training from a half marathon to full marathon is significant but I’m sure there’s no better marathon experience than London so I can’t wait to get going.  Having the opportunity to support such a great cause at the same time makes it all so much more worthwhile.”
